I picked up a Linksys cable modem cuz I was using a Toshiba PX2200 and when I connect directly to the new modem and go to toast.net I was getting 9800 KPS. But when I hooked the modem to the WRT54GS I get skewed speeds about 7800 KPS hardwired and about 2500 KPS wireless I am using the latest firmware available from Linksys and I spent hours with a tech trying to get the speed up with no success. Is there a firmware out there that can fix this or some settings I can try please explain any suggestions thoroughly as I am a noob at settings with in the router menus.

    Thanks in advance

could you please confirm these are bits or Bytes? there is a difference.

    Kbps or KBps?

2500KBps is approx 20Mbps this is a failry good speed for a 54g connection. you could try enabling Frame Bursting on the router if it lets you.
