WRT54GS - Version 1 vs Version 4

    Hi,

    First, Apologize for my english writing. :)

    ther 3 month ago, i buy Linksys WRT54GS - v1.1 (???), and last week i buy for a friend the same but the version is v4...

    I upgraded the firmware or my router, and no i have the SES :D

    But my question is : what is the difference beetween v1 and v4 ?...

    Although it is more difficult to load firmware onto a V4, it does have a nice strong radio.

    Not all 3rd party firmwares will load onto the V4, but you can find directions to use HyperWRT at the forums of hyperwrt.org and there are some directions here.

    The V4 GS has half as much memory and storage.
    It is difficult to load firmware.
    It has a stronger signal.
    It gets hotter.
    Even though it is different, it works just as nicely as the origional version.
