With that question all you are doing is creating an open debate between everyone that loves the particular firmware they are using. I would say do a little research with the 3 most used, tomato, thibor and dd-wrt (no specific order). Figure out which you think will work best for you and give it a try, if it does great, if it does not then switch to something else. Thats really the only true way to know which is best for you.

Thanks for your reply.Since i have never owned a router before and im very new to this stuff i was just hoping that someone would tell me which they thought was a good firmware.I thougt that if 20 people said tomato and 12 said something else, then i would try the tomato version.I wasnt trying to cause a 20 page debate, only get some good info off well established members that were happy to help and advise and not flame a newcomer to the scene.

Ahhh no worries it just seems to turn into that far to often. If you are new then go with thibor or tomato. I have used both of those and dd-wrt, I like the thought of dd-wrt's advanced routing features but most dont seem to work very well, though the firmware itself is solid. Thibor is going to look and feel just like standard linksys firmware and tomato is quite a change but still very easy to use, though the graphs could confuse you a bit. They all have their own look and feel and all are very good. Though to confuse more, I can personally recommend any one of the 3 and currently have all of them running here on different devices, along with far to many other devices. Hope that helps you some, if not feel free to ask whatever is on your mind. And remember, no one knows everything (though many think and act like they do) and we all started some where. Good luck.........
