Will the same functionality for the network ports on the router still function using the ddwrt firmware. I know this sounds like a stupid question, but have seen threads that make me wonder.I use network enabled external hard drives with a web based file protocol (not ntfs) and would be a disaster to loose the data.

is it a NAS that you are talking about?
a NAS acts like a own computer and its files are independent from which network you have.

if it's not a NAS that you are talking about then I dont know what you mean by 'web based file protocol' lol

    cheers

The ports remain the same until you change them. If you change things and you're not happy you can change them back. Not a problem.
