I use to have my wireless set up with wep, but I didnt have the DHCP server enabled on the router, now because I use muilt wireless locations around town, i need my router to use DHCP, so DHCP is now enabled, and all works fine, with WEP turned off, but as soon as I turn wep on i lose a connection, and that is on my comp that is hardwired to the router i havent even tried my laptop yet, but does anyone know why DHCP and WEP together lose the connection?

Have no clue what you are at, so therefore cannot offer any help.

DHCP server (on LAN side), or DHCP client (on WAN side). WEP for clients connecting to this WRT or this WRT connecting to some other AP as a client, WDS, ....

    A picture would help....

DHCP is on the LAN side and the wireless no the WRT is an AP that has 2 lan connections and 2 wireless connections

Understand a bit better now, but unfortunately still can't help you. Why WEP? WEP is reportedly fairly easily crackable. From my own experience, WPA-PSK (WPA Personal) with AES encryption gives you the lowest penalty for having authentication and encryption.

I just wanted to really why wep drops out all my connects to the internet and I have to turn either DHCP off or WEP off to get my connection to the internet back, so in other words, why wont DHCP and WEP run together, but I will try the others, thanks.
