WRT54GS with WPA keep disconnecting every 5 seconds!

    Hi all,

I just upgraded my WRT54GS (v.1.1) to firmware 4.7.06 (from LInksys website). I can connect to the Internet after the upgrade using wireless and WEP (128-bit). My PC clients use Linksys NIC (PCI and PCMCIA) with Speedboster, 1 laptop with Intel 802.1g built-in and 1 PDA.

However, when I attempt to use WPA-TKIP (with Pre-Shared Key), the all my client shows that the connection is on and off every 5 seconds. This happened using either Linksys card (such as WPC54GS) or the Intel card. What happened is that Windows will shows the following:

    1. First 5 seconds: Connected to Network
    2. Next 5 seconds: Disconnected from Network
    3. Next 5 seconds: COnnected to network

The cycle will repeat again and again.

It seems that the router have some issue with WPA that I never know about. Does anyone know about this?

    Thanks.

If you haven't tried already reset the router to defaults (can be done by holding reset button for 30sec) then reconfigure. (Always a good idea after a firmware upgrade.)

    Hi 4Access,

Turn out that there is something wrong with the Linksys driver and utility for the client, especially for the PCMCIA card. I actually have to downgrade the client version.

I am quite appaled that the drivers for LInksys client suddenly can go bad, as they're usually produce high quality stuff. :(
