I was doing some searching for a router with Parental Controls and found references to the WRT54GS on Linksys' website. There is actually 2 addresses that show the WRT54GS. One shows that it has the parental control while the other has no reference to it. Does anyone know for certain if the parental controls are available on all WRT54GS's?

Parental Controls are only available on V3's and prior. The newer V4's and now V5's do not have parental controls.

If you want Parental Controls, you are probably better off putting Net Nanny or something like it on individual PC's. Several router vendors had a try at integrating this into routers. It turns out to be a lot of trouble and a big support-tail for the handful of customers who actually turn it on and use it.

This is for home use not a business. The customer wants to try to keep all trash out of the house and I was hoping to filter it at the router level instead of having to filter it at each PC. The customer's adult children have laptops that they use for college and the customer doesn't want to load a netnanny type program on the laptops so the PC's can be utilized outside of the home. His biggest point was to keep the junk out of his home.

I've been using it for over a year and can say it works as advertized. The nice thing about it is you can either associate a user profile to a given PC by having the user log-in or by a PC's MAC address (transparent log-in). You can also setup a default profile for all others - i.e. Guest. This solution is network based - meaning all url request are sent to a network server for screening. You can expect some lag.
