  1. I have a WRT54GS and I was referred to this site. They said I could increase the expandability...what would I need to do this? I'm using my router with a Linksys range expander.

What do you mean by "increase the expandability"?

You can load custom firmware such as DD-WRT, HyperWRT or Sveasoft's Alchemy (to name a few) that will allow you to increase the TX power of the router which may allow you to place your range expander farther away from the router. Additionally some custom firmware also support WDS which can give a WRT range expander like features. (In fact I usually recommend people purchase additional WRTs intead of the WRE54G Range Expander since when combined with custom firmware the WRT is MUCH MORE powerful/flexible than the WRE54G, not to mention cheaper!)
