any news on enabling the full 32mb ram for the v2 WRT54G??
anyone tried ?
The only project I have seen so far is the Sveasoft firmware. I believe they are going to support it in the soon to be released Talisman. Bare minium there is a lot of discussion about it on that forum.
I think there was a discussion on the Asus forum
You would have to change some nvram vars (probably the one with sdram*), just like it was with enabling speedbooster on the WRT54G v2, but then again it's dangerous and it can brick your router.
Ok, this is the link :
As you can see you have to change these 2 values and do a nvram commit.
Warning : Only do this if you have 32MB ram onboard (you have to verify this by opening up the router) and have knowledge to do a jtag flash recovery, because doing this wrong *will* brick your router.
thnx for the links, founded them too..
hmm, dont know if my v2 really got 32mb ... dont wanna open the case now cause too much alc in my venes ;-)
maybe testing later
If you don't know for sure, you better do not try this, as it will brick your router.
Will changing the variables to enable the 32 megs of ram do anything positive for the average user, or will it only help if you are doing things such as using your WRT as a web server?
Oh, and I forgot to ask...
Is there a chance my 54GS has the 32 megs of ram?
Or only the 54G v2?
Will not have much advantages for normal users.
As far as I know only WRT54G v2.0 Rev:XH have the 32MB of ram (they probably ran out of 16MB ram, and used 32MB instead to keep the production going).
WRT54GS already have 32MB of ram available to the user.
i have opened my case and checked the rams and the board revision:
i got a Rev: XH but on my board only got 16 MB..
so no chance that i test the nvram settings with my v2... dont wanna brick it like i did with my v1 (which is alive again
thnx for help
