WRT54Gv5 drops IP lease

I setup a small network for a friend. Well the router is a V5 and it runs for about 4-5 days and then it just drops the ip lease. Unplug the router and plug it back in and away it goes again. I flashed the latest firmware thinking it may be a bug but no go. It just keeps doing the same thing. One of his computers is older and has a 10mb card in it. I thought that may be causing the issue but haven't changed it to confirm if that is the problem. As I wouldn't think it would make the router do that.

Has anybody experienced this or any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Is it the Lan or the Wan that is having issues?

It's the LAN that is having the issue. The WAN did have an issue but I dropped the MTU back to 1464 and it never drops the connection to the internet. Now it just drops the IP lease every 4-5 days and won't renew it until the router has been unplugged and plugged back in.

    Thanks for the reply

Whats the lease time from the pc's point of view and whats the lease time set to on the router.

It's set to the default. Which I believe is everyday. Although I can't confirm that as it's been a week since I've been by his place. Do you think that is to short? Maybe I'll give that a try. I also thought about just assigning static ip's and just disable the dhcp. It takes an AIPIPA address with limited connectivity.

Static is a good way to go if he is not moving things around and no 1 day is not to short it should still work, i was just wondering if there was a mismatch that was causing it like the machine thinking it had a day and the router thinking longer so when the lease request came in the router just ignored it. I know how it is to play personal techsupport i have a couple friends a 90 minute drive away that i end up going that way from time to time because of something they messed up. So if i was you i would set it to static and not worry about it. I am curious though as to what is causing it.
