    Folks

Picked up and WRT54GX the other day. My 802.11g systems work fine however I have a Toshiba Tablet PC with bulit-in 802.11b that has some odd issues. I must say this system worked fine with a WRT54G. Currently the 11b device has issues with some java & RPC applications. I tried treaking the MTU thinking maybe that could be causing some consternation also turned off the QoS and SPI options. Still applications like Microsoft's Outlook and certain websites just don't function. I may pick up an SRX card tonight just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this. Thanks!

See this tomshardware review -- in mixed mode, 802.11b doesn't work well:

I love the range on this router...

But like you, I have problems reaching certain websites and have spent 3 months trying to adjust MTU and on both client PC's and routers... sometimes it works, sometimes the problem comes back. Rebooting the router every 6 hours seems to help, in many cases I can't reach a website and I reboot the router and it is fixed. Not a good sign.

I really wish OpenWRT or HyperWRT would take on the driver for this router. I like the antenna/radio - but the software loaded on this thing is horrible in terms of limited featurs and the problems reaching sites...
