WRT54GX and WPS54G connection issues

I am having issues using my new wireless printserver WPS54G with my new SRX router WRT54GX. I have an older WRT54G and the printserver works fine. It seems that the new router is not recognizing the printserver (not assigning it a correct ip address, ie like 192.168.1.xxx). I get an error when trying to connect to the router saying that the IP address needs to have to same first three digits like the ip above.

Anyone else having this prob or know how to fix this?

I have both the WPS54G and the WRT54GX, do you have SSID broadcast enabled? Do you have any security like MAC address filtering? What encryption are you using are you using WPA-PSK TRIP or WEP. Are you using the setup wizard? I aways setup either the WPS54G or the WPS54GU2 with the printservers hardwired to my router. I use the Bi-admin Management Utilty to set up prinservers. The Webset up usually does not work properly. After all you cannot use it to unless you get an IP address?

I had a related problem, although not the same.
I've been unable to access my printserver connected to the WRT54GX.
I've assigned a fixed IP address to it. I've always been able to see the printserver from a computer directly connected to teh router through a wire.
I have been unable to see it from a laptop connected wirelessly (actually, I am able to see it just after resetting it but loose conection after printing or accessing the printserver web page).

It seems that turning off CTS protection mode does the trick. AFter trying everything else, I finally tried that and it works. Very strange.

    Hope this helps.

    WPS54G and the WRT54GX Connectivity

    I had similar experience...

    I had the following setup:
    WEP (on both routers)
    hard wired both together
print server has a static ip
I could ping and connect to the wps, but once i disconnect the wire from wps and restart the wps I could not ping or connect to it

This issue was resolved by updating the firmware on wps to 6047 (available on this site).

    Hope this helps.
