Ok, here is the scoop. I bought a WRT54GX and WUSB54GS about 6 months back. When I bought it I was absolutoly amazed about how much range the thing did indeed have. But now after about 6 months of impecable service the signal is starting to deteriarte. On my desktop I never have more than 45% signal strength Now onto my question, #1 how can I improve my signal to make the desktop more usable? #2 is the WMP54GX worth the 100$? I have never owned a PCI wireless card and there is not to much room behind my Box so this external antena seemed like a good idea. #3 I am upgrading to Verizon FiOS most likely over the next two weeks would it be wise to just wait and see what happens with that? I would like to thank everyone that helps in advance! Thanks alot

You may be getting interference from nearby networks or 2.4Ghz cordless telephones. Try changing the channel and /or network density. If there is anothre network broadcasting on the sme channel you oruter will go into a wait state. If you were on channel six try one or eleven.

Thanks for the tip, We dont have any cordless phones in the house so I dont think that is doing it. Also I was on Channel 3 so I changed it over to 11 and we will see how that goes. Other than that do any of you sugest the Range Extender?

the WMP54GX card is amazing, i had a client whos desktop would receive 2 bars in their house (large house) and after installing the SRX card i had full bars and picked up a neighbors connection with 2 bars. definately an option if you want a stronger signal
