I have a client with a wrt54gx with 3 removable antennae. So this would commonly dictate a v2 router. When i try to update firmware it states incorrect version. Sure enough access through web interface and the firmware says 1.02.06. Version 1 firmware on a version 2 router? Am I incorrect in my assumptions here or is this just weird. Anyone seen this before? Solution? Unit is dropping WAN with heavy load or after several hours. I will exchange unit if this is just a bad unit. Just verifying I am not on drugs here.

WRT54GX v1 had firmware version 1.02.06 and the antennas was non-removable. WRT54GX v2 has antennas were removable with R-SMA connectors and firmware version 2.00.5. What version does the label and FCC-ID indicate? You either have a late version 1.0 with removable antennas or an early version 2.0 with version 1.0 firmware. Very strange indeed. 8O

I had the same error when I tried updating a EU model of the WRT54GX-v2 with the US firmware. You need to make sure that
    a) you have a US version of the router
    b) the firmware you are trying to upload is a US version as well.
Check the labels at the bottom of the router or try opening the routers page /fw_id.htm.
