WRT54GX v2 and PPPoA

I wonder if it's possible for a modified firmware uppdate for this router to be able to have PPPoA support?

I'm subscribed to an ISP that uses the PPPoA protocol. My ISP provided me with a Speedtouch HomePlus 511e and for any reason I could not get the wifi working... I tried using another modem Speedstream 5100. Tried setting my Linksys WRT54GX v2 on Auto DHCP but I cant get any connection. Bridge mode on both modems wont work because the Linksys doesnt have PPPoA protocol...

Perhaps someone can help me? :)

    Thanks!

I've got a WRT54GX2 here right now, it's been running unmodified, on factory firmware (1.00.01) with encapsulation set to RFC 2364 PPPoA for months.... ?

Thanks Yakumo for your reply. First, I believe we don't have the same unit, yours is WRT54GX2 while mine is the version 2 of WRT54GX.And, like I said in my original post, the WRT54GX v2 doesnt have RFC 2364 PPPoA. Second, perhaps you can enlighten me as to which DSL modem your WRT54GX2 is connected to and how is the modem set up (as bridge?)? Thanks! I appreciate your response =)

You're going to need a modem or modem/gateway router that specifically handles PPPoA.

I live in England (moved from the states almost two years) and I finally had to buy an xDSL modem (x-modem ce) to run on PPPoA in order to use my WRV54G. Yakumo most likely has an ADSL connection like I do and doesn't realize the original WRT54G routers are "ethernet" based.

If you live in the states, you should look for a plain xDSL modem. Try Dlink first and work your way from there...
