WRT54GX vs. WAP54GX as an Access Point

Given the difference in price between the two (WRT54GX $100 / WAP54GX $142) is there any advantage of going with the WAP54GX as opposed to using the WRT54GX and disabeling the DHCP?

Again, this is using the device as an access point only.

Thanks in advance you for your response.

If you are comparing the WRT54GXV2 and the WAP54GX, there presently is no advantage in getting a WAP54GX. Both use SRX and have three removable antennas. Now the WRT54GX2 uses SRX200 and may have less range than the other two and has only two non-removable antennas at present. The WRT54GX2 was introduced to give a lower price point and with less range and throughput. Threre have been no reported test or reviews of it. Unless the WAP54GX adds additional modes like Access Point Client, repeater and bridge in the future there is not advantage to the WAP54GX. You have to disable NAT and connect to the the LAN port not the WAN port.
