Anyone have any problems using an AirPort Extreme card to connect to a Linksys WRT54GX2?

At first I thought the iMac (w/AirPort Extreme) was too far away from the router, since I was under the assumption that AirPort Extreme was 802.11b (which is not the case). So I went out & bought one of those Belkin Wireless USB Adapters F57050 (v.3000) to see if that would connect my iMac to the WiFi... but no luck (using the Railink drivers)

Now I've discovered (yeah, stupid me) that AirPort Extreme uses 802.11g & that there's no possible way that my iMac is too far away from the router, since I used to have a PC sitting in it's place (with a Linksys Wireless USB Adapter) that connected to the router (WRT54GX2).

Could the problem be the Linksys WRT54GX2 Router?
