Long post but please bear with me.....
I've been using a Netgear RP614 wired router connected to my DSL modem and 3 other computers for the past 2 years without any issues. Well I decided that is time to step up to the wireless world so I did some research and decided to go with with the Linksys WRT54GX2. I have not tried the wireless part on the router just yet, but I've been having major issues with the wired ports. When I plug in any of my computers to any wired port on the Linksys it only recognizes the link at 10MBs....I know b/c that's what is says in the Router config page under Status/System Performance page. Also checked the Control Panel/Network Connections/Local Area Connection Status is also 10MBs. If I try to transfer a 500mb file from one computer to another it takes about 12 min.
Here is what puzzles me: If I reset or power recycle the router or both, then the link is back up at 100MBs. If I decide to unplug a computer from let's say port 4 (that was working at 100MBs) and plug it in port 2, it will only pick up the link at 10MBs (unless I reset/power cycle router) then it picks up 100MBs....also if I take this computer and plug it back on port 4 it only works at 10MBs ...same thing happens with all ports, all computers.....I know the NICs are good, b/c if connect to my Netgear router it autosensing 100MBs without any issue. The internet works fine by the way.
I've forgot to menion that this is the second WRT54GX2 router I tried since the other supposely was determined to be bad by a Linkys tech support person when I called them with this issue, so I decided to exchange it at the store since it was w/in 30 days......
Now since I'm having the same issues with the 2nd Linksys WRT54GX2 and before I return this thing, was thinking to post this issue here just in case anybody has an idea on this issue...tks

Re: Having Problems with it to Autosense 100MB

Guys, sorry, I keep repeating myself here today, but I have confirmed several bugs with Linksys about the WRT54GXv2 and WRT54GX2 router today that they will have firmware update for the earliest in a month or so. Unfortunately, those routers are loaded with featuers and hence with bugs as well due to insufficient testing I assume. Go out and get an old BEFSR11 or BEFSR41 with less features but much more stable software and use a WAP if necessary. The new Linksys routers are terrible in terms of bugs to say the least.
If you try to keep fixing those issues, you will only waste your time... trust me.
