I just set up a home netwrok using the wrt55ag v2 router and a dsl connection. For some reason I can not access ebay web sites when I use the router. I get the "page unavailable" error message after loading the first ebay site. I spent about 10 hours on phone with Linksys support and they seem to think that I need to trigger whatever port ebay uses to get access. I understand this has something to do with the internal firewall built into the router (which apparently can not be disabled) Ebay does not know what Lynksis is talking about, nor do I. The only way I can navigate through ebay sites and some other sites i frequent while accessing via the router is to continually delete all cookies and clear the web cache. We are trying to set up an ebay business and this will not work. Any one else experience same or similar problem and have suggestions how to fix. Thanks

are you sure it is the router. try to conect a compter to the internet forn your cable or dsl to a computer and see if you still have problems

Thats how I have it set up now, and it works fine. I only have the problem when I access the internet through the router. A direct connection via my DSL modem and no problem at all. But without the router, I have no network and my other computers are rendered useless.

Yes, Over two nights I spent about 6 hours on phone with them. We reconfigured my internet set-up, we upgraded the firmware, we tried a number of configurations with the router, none of which, except for deleting of cookies, worked. And the deleting of cookies is not a good fix because every time I delete them, it logs me out of ebay and by the time I get logged back in, I have to delete the cookies again. One of the techs tried to fix it by triggering a port to remain open, but this did not work. He said I would need to find out from ebay what port needs to be triggered and then trigger the same. Ebay says it does not use any particular port and could not offer any help. Unless anyone has any other suggestions, I guess I'll back to Linksys support and try again. In fact to post this reply I had to first delete all the cookies again. ( i needed to reconnect the router)

Yes, I have disabled all the firewallss, Windows, Norton, etc. You can not disable the internal firewall in the router. I have not tried a different router, I would have to purchase one and I hope to avoid that expense.

I had the exact same problem after I set up my WRT55AG. Couldn't get into passsword protected sites. EBay, Hotmail, my ESPN Insider stuff. Some Googling picked up MTU error stuff. I set my router MTU, then used DrTCP to set all of my PCs to what the router was set to. No problems since that day.

problem after firmware update wrt55ag version 2

I was working on a wireless setup with the wrt55ag version 2 and the setup worked great for a few months. After setting up WEP and updating linksys's latest firmware to 1.10 (previous firmware was 1.30) the internet worked fine but web based email like hotmail and netscape didn't work. After spending countless hours on the phone with linksys tech support (also tried many mtu settings on router and drtcp for setting same mtu on pc) they finally emailed me a beta version of firmmware 1.30 which they said would enable email to work. After updating the firmware with the 1.30 beta version the router no longer worked at all for internet connectivity. Now they are going to replace it. Holly hell, what a nightmare!
