    Hello,

I recently bought the WRTSL54GS and as suggested by Toxic, flashed it with HyperWRT SL Thibor17rc3 and its working fine.

I cant get the FTP to work properly though.

    Here are my settings:

    Disk:

    Partition - NTFS_1
    Freespace 319.8GB

    Share:
    Share Name - Test1
    Partition - NTFS_1

    Administration:
    All Partitions Share - Enable
    Internet Access - Enable

    FTP Server:

    FTP Server - Enable
    Port - 21
    Passive Range - 65000 - 65009

    Remote FTP - Disable

    Share - All Partitions

When I hit ftp://My DynDNS, I get a pop up to login but with guest or admin credentials, i cannot login and keep getting the same pop up logon window.

What am i doing wrong here ?

    Please advise.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

If you are trying to login remotely (outside your network) you need to enable remoteftp

have you assigned the admin or guest accounts to the "FTP Share Access" and internet access is enabled on the FTP Server page?

    Administration:
    All Partitions Share - Enable
    Internet Access - Enable

The internet access on the admin page is disabled by default afaik as this is for Media Sahring (not ftp access)

you have setup this page yes? http://www.linksysdata.com/ui/WRTSL54GS/2.06.0/storage/FTP_Server.htm

    1) have you assigned the admin or guest accounts to the "FTP Share Access" and internet access is enabled on the FTP Server page?

Yes! admin is the default gorup with access which cannot be removed anyways. But yes, I verified guest & admin groups are assigned to "FTP Share Access" on FTP Page

    2) Administration:
    All Partitions Share - Enable
    Internet Access - Enable

    - Done !

    3) FTP Server Page:

    FTP Server - Enable
    Local port 21
    Passive Range 65000 - 65009

    Remote FTP - Enable
    Remote Port - 2111
    IDENT Requests - Enable

    Share - All Partitions

    - Still when I hit ftp://DynDNS_Domain, i get a logon prompt and when i type: username as 'guest' and password (blank), i get the same logon prompt no matter how many times i hit enter or keep trying. Same with the username 'admin' and admin password.
    - Created another user in guest group as 'test' - same thing with that.
    - why is it not authenticating ?

ok. Was playing around and - New Discovery !!

    - Deleted All Shares from the SHARE page under storage.

    - in Admin Page, all partitions share - Disable, Internet access: Disable

    - FTP Server Page has:

    FTP Server - Enable
    Local port 21
    Passive Range 65000 - 65009

    Remote FTP - Enable
    Remote Port - 2111
    IDENT Requests - Enable

    Share - All Partitions

    and now:

ftp://dyndns_domain:2111 gives access to my USB HDD.

    - So now, I can see/download stuff from my usb hdd.

However, still dont know what is the use of shares/users/authentication.

    - Still need to figure out a way to upload stuff too.

    - any ideas ?
