    Has anyone gotten the Backup features to work in 15C ?

    Thibor had replied to my original post here about the subject:

    The Backup feature on the NSLU2 is great for automated backups and sync-ing. And since the NSLU2's are the same price as the WRTSL54GS. It would be yet another reason to go with a WRTSL54GS.

    Maybe I just haven't tested/troubleshot enough yet.
    Any thoughts or Tutorials or help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks Again Yo!:thumbup:

    I don't use the backup feature right now, but if you tell me how you configured your backup job, I can see if it works for me. I only have a flash drive, not a real hard drive, plugged into the SL, but that shouldn't make a difference.

    Also, I assume you have verified the system clock on your router is accurate?

    system lock? I don;t know what that is.

    did you mean clock?
    Also, is 16 out now?

    I have been trying to get any job to work:
    from wrt_share->pc_share (full,incremental,sync - anyday at any set time - doesn't matter)
    from pc_share->wrtshare (full,incremental,sync - anyday at any set time - doesn't matter)

    if I could just get a known good, I can take it from there.
    So far I haven't been able to, with a multitude of different configurations, from folder address to network changes.
    And it seems from the syslogs that nothing is sending any traps that anything is starting or finishing.

    If you can or can't, please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks!

    Yeah, I meant clock. Sorry. I'll try it when I have time and get back to you.

    Set up a job and "guesstimated" the parameters. Didn't work. Probably some tricky configurations. I doubt Linksys will put fully non-functional stuff on there?

    That backup feature is native in a Linksys NSLU2 NAS device. And works well according to a friend that has one. Which seems like a great feature to be unlocked from the WRTSL54GS, if possible. I'm going to try some other stuff to see if I can get it to work. I wonder if not syncing both WRT and PC to a NTP server, or the different filesystems (ntfs and fat32) are part of the problem. If I find something new, I'll POST immediately.

    Thanks again for trying Yo!

    what size is the backup going to be? there is limitations on the size of a file for FAT32 partition from the SL to the HDD which i think is 4Gb file.

    The folder I was testing with had around 618MB in it.

    And actually, I just looked at the drive thats attached to the WRT and it is using NTFS. Or atleast Windows says it is NTFS. I just assumed it was using FAT32.
