WRV200 DNS Failure

One of the issues being exhibited by my WRV200 is that it stops responding to DNS requests from clients. Trace routes via IP address work fine but you can not perform any name resolution. As a work around I think I will simply put the DNS servers into the user defined fields so the clients get them via DHCP instead of the router address. However that doesn't fix the fact that the device is malfunctioning. Has anyone heard of this issue before? Does the router simply pass the request through to the DNS server or does it keep a cache which it looks to first? Just wondering what exactly is failing.

it just passes it, and yes i have seen this not only with the wrv, a better work around is to input the isp dns in the router so it gives those dns ip's to the dhcp client.
