    WRV200 Firmware 1.0.26 Release Note

    1. Enhanced the security of QuickVPN by supporting self-generated certificate on the router. Several functions (buttons) were added to the Certificate Management section on the VPN Client Access page. Administrator can generate new certificate, export certificate for admin backup, export certificate for QuickVPN clients, and import certificate for admin. The router's certificate needs to be delivered to all QuickVPN users and placed in the install directory of QuickVPN Client, e.g. C:\Program Files\Linksys\Linksys VPN Client\. This way the QuickVPN client will only trust these certificates placed in its local directory and will not be deceived by a hacker in the middle to connect to a hostile computer. With QuickVPN Client v1.0.47, when the client encounters a certificate that is not trusted, the client will pop up an warning message, suggesting the user quit the connection attempt. The export and import functions can be used when the admin wants to reset the router to factory default, but does not want to re-distribute the certificate to all of the QuickVPN users.

    2. Added the support for SNMP MIB-II.
    3. Added an optional Service Name field in the PPPoE WAN configuration.
    4. Merged the Advanced Key Management pop-up into the IPSec VPN page.

    Issues Fixed:

    1. Removed the checkbox for enabling "SNMP Through IPSec Tunnel" and made the feature always enabled.
    2. Fixed the issue that the Web UI will crash after 30~40 minutes, if Syslog is enabled and the WAN connection is up.
    3. Fixed the issue with showing incorrect Current Time in the Status->Router page.

    Known Issues:
    1. IPSec tunnels do not pass NetBIOS broadcast packets. This may create a problem when users want to search computers by names or to browse the network neighborhood on Windows Explorer. Users can use a LMHOSTS file to work around this issue. More information can be found at Microsoft.com

I've noticed the log stops working after some time and there are no more log entries until router is rebooted.

In the test I've made it stopped almost exactly after 3 hours of continuous work.

    VPN link no longer working

I have a VPN link with my neighbour, we both have a WRV200 with 1.0.24-ETSI firmware. All VPN settings are default.
When I upgrade my WRV200 with the 1.0.26 beta firmware, and keep the other WRV200 on 1.0.24-ETSI the VPN link no longer works.:frown:

As far as I can see all settings are the same, although the menu structure slightly changed.

    Any ideas?

Thanks Sfor, that did it! I reset my hardware, filled in my VPN settings and now the VPN connection between my WRV200 with 1.0.26 Beta and the other WRV200 with 1.0.24 ETSI works.

Prevous firmware upgrades required to do a factory defaults hardware reset after loading a new firmware. Without it router could act weird. I think is can be caused by the old settings structure not fitting the new firmware settings structure.

I have some more informations about the system log problem. The log stopped working, again. It was enough to wait less than 20 minutes, this time.

I have all the event types switched on, but I'm not receiving any new connection events.

I tried to tweak the log settings, instead of rebooting the router. So, I've switched off the System event type. I saved the settings. Then I switched the System events type, and saved the settings, again.

    All I received was:
    1264 ëƒÎ˙…öt˙uü˙4neuƒÎ˙‹C^ÉÂ$ Dec 23 17:57: 2 2006 System log daemon exiting.
    1265 ëƒÎ˙…öt˙uü˙4neuƒÎ˙‹C^ÉÂ$ Dec 23 17:57: 2 2006 syslogd started: BusyBox v1.00-pre2 (2005.06.20-03:01+0000)
    1266 ëƒÎ˙…öt˙uü˙4neuƒÎ˙‹C^ÉÂ$ Dec 23 17:57: 2 2006 klogd: klogd started: BusyBox v1.00-pre2 (2005.06.20-03:01+0000)

Still no new connection events. So, I played a bit with switching on and off various event types. It looks like the new connection stopped working completely, but the URL Detect is working from time to time only.

I thing it is a time for a reboot........ Done reboot.

Log is working fine now. I wonder, for how long, this time.

    Hello all!

I've just installed .26 on my WRV200 and will be checking to see if these two previously reported issues (which others reported experiencing as well) are corrected:

Have a wonderful Christmas and holiday season!

    SIP problems

SIP VoIP adapter is loosing internet connection, from time to time.

In order to make it work again it is enough to unplug one of the LAN ethernet cables from the router for a moment, or to reboot the router.

    VoIP and FTP Client Update

WRV200 was reset to factory defaults both before and after upgrading to .26.

Same issue with VoIP and FTP as I had with .24 (info here).

This time my SIP (SunRocket) adapter stayed connected to the service for about 36 hours before failure. (It stays connected for weeks - or more - behind either a WRT54G or a DI-604).

Rebooting the WRV200 clears the issue up for awhile and then the problems with VoIP and FTP start all over again.

If there is any other info I could provide that would be helpful in diagnosing this issue please let me know.

what type of connection are you using to your Cablemodem or DSL? PPPoE Static, Automatic DHCP?

I have the same symptoms with both VoIP and FTP.

I'm on a static IP 10/100 ethernet WAN connection with a cloned MAC (no modem). The entire WAN is based on 100Mbit ethernet. But, buildings are connected with fiber wires, as far as I know. There is some sort of a city wide fiber wire ring transfer system, as well.

I've tried to connect my WRV200 with DHCP, by using an additional router as a gateway and DHCP sever. But, result was the same. The Linksys PAP2 VoIP adapter is loosing WAN connection.

It takes a few hours or a day between SIP lockout events. When it happens SIP adapter is losing internet connection with SIP registrary server, and direct IP WAN calls are not working as well. Looks like the SIP invite packets are not reaching the destination.

I'm do not have so much information about the FTP problem, because I'm using it rarely. I'm experiencing problems with downloading multiple files on 1.0.26 firmware.

The complete FTP lock happend to me on the 1.0.24 firmware, last time. It did not happened on the 1.0.26, yet.

    Thank you for your reply.

Anyway, I am using a static WAN connection for the WRV200 (it is currently sitting behind my Verizon FiOS [PPPoE] router [DLink DI-604]).

    Wrv200 .26

Only issue so far is deregistering of my VOIP box. Seems to be less frequent but the box struggles longer to reconnect by itself. .24 seemed to make the VOIP adapter lose registration more often but it reconnected by itself more consistently.

Rebooting the WRV200 fixes problems for a while. Also I have just tried the LAN cable disconnection trick mentioned elsewhere and the VOIP box immediately registers. There is something very weird here.

This needs to be fixed. Is there a more proper place to submit this bug to LinkSys?

I tried the Live Chat with a Linksys agents, a few times, more than three months ago. I tried to fix the VoIP and log releted problems. But, they were certain the firmware is working correctly, and they suggested the WRV200 device itself is faulty. So, the result of the conversation was, I should return the device to my seller for warranty replacement or refundation.

I have the WRV200 with 1.24 ETSI and a PAP2 phonesystems. The PAP2 work fine. I have not tested with this beta but i certainly doing test the next week with this new version.

The problem was present with the 1.0.24 ETSI, as well.
The problem can be related to some settings.

I made the LAN settings to be same as in the previous router, so I had not have to change other settings.

The PAP2 is set to DHCP.

The router local IP was changed to
The PAP2 is on the Static DHCP Client List. So, it has the same IP, always.

I upgraded to .26 (from .24) a couple days ago (and performed reset to factory defaults before and after the upgrade) and have noticed a marked difference. Well done linksys developer(s).

However, I'm still experiencing issues with:

    1) Web UI crashes: Just navigating from page to page, setting changing settings... takes about 15 page hits. Also happens if I leave the browser on the System Performance page (which refreshes automatically).

    2) If I unplug the unit from the wall, then plug it back in, it will not power on. I have to unplug the power from the back of the unit, then plug it back in. Not a problem if that is by design, but I thought it was noteworthy.

    3) Navigating to the Wireless Security page when there are no Wireless connections configured on the Basic Wireless page gives a javascript error.

    // Joe

p.s. Syslog / logging is set to factory default setting (I've not enabled it)

I discovered that the Web UI only freezes up when I attempt to use FF 2.0; using IE7, Web UI appears to operate correctly (thus far).

This morning, I found I was only able to connect to the secondary SSID that I configured. In fact, I was able to "connect" to the first, but the DHCP server did not seem to provide an IP address [1], so the secondary connection kicked in and connected ok (including DHCP negotiation).

I tried disconnecting, reconnecting using the primary profile, however, the same thing occurred (not able to obtain an IP address).

Upon rebooting the router (power off/power on), everything worked fine.

This is the first time I've noticed this peticular case, however, I have experienced the DHCP issue a couple times (when I only had one SSID configured).

[1]: I've assigned static IP addresses to 7 or so MAC addresses on the router; a couple of other devices use dynamic addresses.

Bug: Port forwarding with local IP range change

I've only tested this with 1.0.26, but it may exist with others.

Yesterday when I changed my local subnet from to for VPN routing purposes, my forward ports stopped working. I could no longer SSH to my box behind this router or print to the print server via it's public IP.

Checking the port forwarding page, it showed the new correct subnet of 192.168.22.x, but wasn't working. After checking and testing all the other possibilities (was able to connect and print using private addresses), I guessed that maybe that the router was still forwarding to IP's on the old private subnet.

By un-checking the enable box and saving the changes, then re-checking and saving changes, the problem was solved. My print jobs went through and I was able to establish SSH connections.

I've experienced the same bug with firmware 1.0.24 when I've changed the LAN IP to another subnet.
Unchecking the boxes, saving, checking and saving again restored the port forwarding functions.

With Mozilla Firefox v2.0.1 (and also older versions I believe) if you click on Clear VPN Log it often happens that you get Site could not be displayed or something like this message although the log gets successfully cleared but you don't get back to the log site...

    SIP registration fails periodicaly

I am having the same problem regarding loss of connection and registration of my Linksys SPA-3102 VoIP adaptor connected to the WRV200 router. I am using firmware version 1.0.37 that is in beta but Linksys support said might fix this problem.

Has anyone here been able to fix this issue? I have tried switching of DOS and wireless without success.

    Thank you all,
