WRV54G and quick VPN

    Hi,

I have a WRV54G and I am trying to use Quick VPN. There are 2 firewalls between my machine and the WRV54G (well 2 that I have control over). Both firwalls have IPSec and PPtP passthrough on.

When I try to connect to the WRV54G I get the standard error.

In the wget_error.txt file I get the following :

    --20:22:31-- https://username:*password*@209.121....htm?version=1?IP=192.168.2.100?USER=username
    => `C://Program Files//Linksys//Linksys VPN Client//vpnserver.conf'
    Connecting to 209.121.199.77:443... connected.
    HTTP request sent, awaiting response...
20:22:37 ERROR -1: Malformed status line.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Phil

The firewalls need to have port 443 open for it to work.

Thanks TazUK, I tried that and I still get the same in the log. Are there other ports that could be being blocked ?

For this error, fill in the Domain field on the WRV54G. Open your browser, and log into the web utility. The field is on the first page.

Quick VPN Makes Its Own Tunnel

There's no need to open port 443 because it's opened by default on the wrv54g (if you don't believe me, go to the symantec sight and have it scan your network). By default, the quickvpn tool will erect a secure tunnel between the client and the wrv. To get my tunnel connection to work I disabled pass thru, pptp and l2tp, to include disabling gateways and tunnels (this was just in order to establish a baseline of getting vpn to work; as you get users connected, turn everything back on one by one).

The quickvpn is very simplistic. Don't waste your time reading the microsft/linksys document on how to establish IPSEC security, or whatever that "horse ish" was.

Try that, and see if things improve...

I know that, but the original poster mentioned there were two firewalls between the client PC and the WRV54G, it was on these I was referring to
