I am using a Rev.02 firmware 2.38 and I cant seem to get the log functions to work, either the email nor the syslog functions. Syslog
causes the unit to go into slow down mode, where a diagnostic ping
takes almost a second vs 3 ms normal. Anyone have the syslog function
working and on what rev firmware? Any pointers? Thanks, Rich

I was able to get the email notification to work momentarily until something (most likely the buffer) filled and the notification ceased to work (this was with 2.38). I spoke with a stateside Linksys technician (8 June 2005) and he said they still haven't worked that feature completely because it varies (email notification) on whether the connection is cable, dsl, adsl, or dialup.

Short answer: it's still a work in progress.

the syslog software from linksys kept crashing on every attemp to access the vpn remotely i had to go out and find a generic syslog software to keep it from crashing.

email notification has never worked for me so far.

very much a work in progress, now just to get the vpn to work reliably for remote clients.

The syslog function works well for me with firmware 2.38. I use WallWatcher and it's set to log all alerts and general messages. I've never tried email notifications, though.

    Acer,

email me at cyberpsych1@gmail.com and I'll send you a word document you can send to your "end" users to connect to quickvpn. I've also got the router setup typed up in a word document also.
