I am working with my new WRV54G and noticed an advanced routing setup tab where there is a router and gateway mode. Checking hte routing table, the default route ( goes to the WAN gateay as it should, but if I change from gateway to router mode, all traffic is blocked.

Any suggestions for setting this up?

you only change from "Gateway" to "Router" if you use another gateway device for entering the internet.
Means the WAN port of your WRV54G is connected to a LAN port of a gateway device.
You have to configure the gateway devices IP adress etc. then.

Terminology seems backwards to me but every company has a different twist on verbage.

This also fits the symptoms I was seeing.

Router mode will disable NAT and will act like a pure router.
