    Hi all,

I called support a couple weeks ago because my wireless keeps dropping out and they gave me this beta firmware. It worked very well for me at first over a week of uptime on wireless before it eventually gave out and I had to reboot the router. I'm hoping it works better for you, I've already requested the RMA for my 5th WRVS4400N now (I requested a v1.1 model this time).

Good Luck! I posted this in the download section as well (it is pending approval) but for those of you that are impatient the link is below.

Best of luck... Upgrade at your own risk, I make no warranty express or implied.

    Cheers

First of all, Thanks so much for sharing with the v.1.01.12 firmware. This version of the firmware Sloved all my problems.

    I have 2 of WRVS4400N. v1.0 and v1.1.

the V1.0 came with high frequency noise. but v1.1 isn't.

in pass 3 days, I was trying to setup IPsce vpn with The GreenBow VPN Client.

I was only able to get vpn works with WRVS4400N_v1.00.16_firmware, this firmware has a bug, once i connect with VPN, I almost able to most of the things, excpet browsing the shared fold on the server, even tried with \\192.168.1.x\shared. No Success. and also, the wireless network is not very stable on WRVS4400N_v1.00.16_firmware .

Any Firmware newer than WRVS4400N v1.00.16 Firmware, including WRVS4400N v1.01.08 Beta Firmware. IPSec VPN totally stop working. The GreenBow Client even can not does the inital talking with the WRVS4400N Gateway.

Today, I tired v.1.01.12 bate firmware. this firmware is great!!!!.

VPN is working fine. able to browsing the shared folds. I am happy now:biggrin:

    Success

I installed this firmware yesterday and so far all my problems are solved.
I've had stability problems and restarts were needed at least 2-3 times a week. Now it's stable - both LAN and wireless.

I installed 1.01.12 beta about a week ago. All is good with router except for the fact I still cannot use QVPN on Vista as was advertised 22 months ago. Tech support is no help as they say this router is not supported on Vista, but the box clearly stated that it supported Vista. I am very suprised that Linksys cannot come up with a solution to connect their software with their hardware after 2 years of Vista being released to them.

    I have the same problems.

    Hardware 1.1

    Firmaware now 1.01.12

After 10-15 Minutes hangs thwe box.
If in LAN Modus auto sensig is enabled a connection to my sitch d-link dgs1216 is not possible.
    WLAN is also not stable
To connect to DSL I need to restart the box 2,3 or 6 times. It's likr roulette.

I install around 50 boxes per year but this the last **** - sorry but I'm now angry after 6 weeks of playing beta-tester!!!

    See you

Does beta 1.01.12 work with version 1.0 WRVS4400N?

    Hello all,

I know this question was asked earlier by someone else. But I saw no answer nor replies, so I ask this question again. Does beta 1.01.12 work with the version 1.0 WRVS4400N? I don't assume anything any longer when it comes from Linksys. I called Linksys tech support only to be told yet again - "Let's try to see why your WRVS4400N isn't working before we release beta firmware to you". I've gotten such a run around with these people. It would be nice to see this router work as advertised. Now it is just an expensive 'wired' router since the wireless is unstable. Oh, yes, let me add that - I still have no working FTP, nor working VPN. I would really appreciate it if someone could confirm that beta 1.01.12 does or does not work with version 1.0 routers. Thank you for your time.

Yes it does work with Version 1.0. I have been using 1.01.12 for about a week and I have no problems with it. I am on verision 1.0. Here were the steps I took to do the upgrade from 1.01.08.
    1. Did screen shots of all windows that had configured settings.
    2. Did a reset to default settings in the software.
    3. Did a hard reset - Verified that all windows were set to default values.
    4. Did the upgrade (via Wired)
    5. Changed some settings after upgrade.
    6. Did another hard reset (with new firmware)
    7. Configured router with my settings from step 1.

I do have to say that I have had no problems with my router on any version that has released. My only complaint is that QVPN does not work with Vista. I can always connect via Windows XP just not Vista.

My network consisit of Server 2008, with 2 workstations and on laptop. The laptop connects wireless most of the time and server is always on. I don't have router doing DHCP.

But to answer your question about 1.0 working with Firmware 1.01.12. I does work.

    Thank you!

    Hello Keith,

Thank you for your answer to my question. I appreciate your instructions as well. I just got off the phone with Linksys/Cisco tech support 1+(866)-606-1866. They have informed me that a newer beta is available. It is version 1.01.13. However, the tech could not send me a copy without escalating my case to a higher authority. If they send this to me I will post it for all to test. Thank you again for your time.

QVPN works for me with Vista Business. No problems. I've been using it for a month now. I recently upgraded to 1.1.12 also with no problems

I upgraded to this firmware and then made a factory default reset. Now the switchport don't work. During diag the light of the connected cable on the l2 switch is on two times then during the end of diag it dies. I have done the proper procedure of hard reset 6 times but it does not help.

I can surf with wireless just fine but I need to get into management mode and set encryption and that doesn't work with wireless as I get access denied.

The L2 switch is totally dead after bootup.

Could someone please help? I've done a total of 8 hard resets but it doesn't work.

I got to a point where the power and diag light shifted indefinetely.

I don't think your problem is directly firmware related. Maybe a bad flash but without getting into the config to tell it to allow wireless config, I think you're stuck. Sounds like an RMA to me.

Any word on that 1.1.13 firmware?? Wireless still drops out on me after a few days of heavy use and I'm on the v1.1 hardware now :frown:

Glad this could help so many of you though.

    Cheers!

I'm not going into any conclusions just yet.

tftp seems to work partially as I can login with tftp and atftp into the router but I'm having problems with the upload taking forever (trying to flash with another firmware). All lights during diag are normal.

As I did a factory reset after firmware flash, web administration both over wireless and WAN is not working and that should be perfectly normal. All settings seems to have been reset except the L2 switch. My L2 switch has been disabled all the way since I noticed that it ended the noise totally.

If I do RMA now (in case I can get contact with Linksys) I'm probably going to get another v1.1 which has the highpitched noise problem.

    Thanks for the help.

    edit:

I forgot to say that this router has already been exchanged before, the warranty from the store is out, the unit does not exist in the store anymore and I have to turn to Linksys RMA but that could be hard. I can't find a number or mail adress for Sweden anywhere.

    edit2:

    Currently in contact with support.

It says "backorder" on the RMA page. Does it mean that Linksys are waiting for units from the factory?

If it is of interest... If you live in Sweden you have to send the router to the Netherlands and that is not cheap. The support is in Belgium but I think they are very friendly and polite.

Netgear however have put support on Anovo in Sweden but the exchange is fast and totally free unless you've tampered with the device.

I tried the 1.01.12 firmware version, but i have a problem with dns: when a client do a dns query (nslookup for example) to my provider i see this logs in the router:

    Dec 26 16:46:31 - unexpected server: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Dec 26 16:46:31 - Reply packet was to small. Ignoring reply from yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy

x and y are my dns servers.

The client first do the query to the DNS x, but it receives no answer, then do the query to the second DNS (y), and it receives the answer correctly.
In the same time the router log give the errors as described.

I tried to hard reset the router but nothing changes.

I returned back to the 1.01.08 version and the problem disappeared, so it's a problem of the 1.01.12 firmware version.

    Anyone with the same problem?

    Sandokan.

    Same problem with 1.01.13 firmware.
Actually the 1.01.08 version is the most stable.

    Nothing to do... Linksys...

    V1.1.13

I have the V1.1.13 Firmware installed now over 3 months. After installation i had it running 75 days without reboot. Because of my mistake of pulling of the wrong plug i forced a restart
I personally do not have problems with my WRVS4400n v1.0, but to be honest, i didn't really have problems with the other firmwares except the early ones.

Behind my Router I have running.
    - Webserver
    - Ftp-Server / Fileserver; accessible through FTP (secured only) and HTTPS.
    - 1 Server
    - 1 Pc
    - 1 to 3 Laptops (usually per Wireless)

With this firmware i also have the IPS-function running. It still caps my max. download speed but reaching ~21 to 22 Mbps download is okay for me. In the future this might be a sticking point for me. My ISP regularly raises the speeds of us customers and with the next raise I will have to shut off IPS to get my speed. For a business product this should be better.

But besides that I am happy with my device.

No problems with DNS resolution (client side)?

With the same firmware i have problems with the first DNS server, as i specified few post before.

Now i'm running 1.01.08 firmware version: it is the most stable, i think.

    Let us know.

    Bye,
    Sandokan.

I've just checked my logs and there are no unnormal entries. So, No I have no DNS problem. Unfortunatly I have no clue where your problem might come from, maybe issues with your ISP not with your Linksys device?

    Bye

    Hi,
Running 1.13 from some time. Not a real change after 1.12. and there is no changelog so is hard to tell. I expected Cisco to come up with a new FW release not a beta. To be honest I didn't bother to reset the router to factory default and it kept all the settings identical after upgrade so i suspect is not a big difference.
It didn't fix my issue with a way to be able to connect using smtp from outside (not even using IP Based ACL) to this router so smtp feature works only if you check it from inside the network. So instead of replacing a router from a costumer who actually paid for it it sits on my home.
DNS worked fine before and works fine now, nothing on my logs about this no so it could from your ISP.
VPN with another 2 WRV54G works decent and I can print over it, i never tried to transfer big files but I suspect it may hang but..
I've been able to run about 20 downloading /10 uploading threads on ftp at the same time and still be able to browse the web without stalling and or freezing.
Unfortunately my router is more stable then my ISP. I suspect the fact I did hack into it changing/adding heat-sinks really helped cause into my den is going pretty hot. At least make sure it stays vertically and you blow the dust from the small holes from time to time.

The most significant area I found 1.1.13 to fail in is VPN connectivity. For example, if you have two or more IPSEC vpn tunnels running, only one is reported. Additionally, the tunnels disconnect on a frequent basis. People not running vpn tunnels will not notice this, therefore, it "seems" like the firmware is okay.

1.1.08 is "THE" best firmware version to use at this time, based on the testing I did for my requirements. Overall, it's probably the most stable firmware for this router :)
