WTR54GS Travel Router breaking certain web sites

I have a brand new Linksys WTR54GS Travel Router, which I am using while visiting family for the holidays. I have interposed this router between their sole desktop PC and their DSL modem. They can get online via the desktop PC and I can get online via Wifi from my notebook PC. But certain sites just don't work.

The first problem showed up when my sister-in-law tried to add items to her shopping cart on nordstroms.com. This did not work on the desktop or the notebook. But when I removed the WTR54GS and connected the desktop directly to the DSL modem the Nordstroms shopping cart worked fine.

The second problem showed up when my father-in-law tried to access nytimes.com. It is completely unreachable through the WTR54GS. But when I directly connect his desktop to the modem this site comes right up.

Other than this the internet connection seems fine through the WTR54GS but it's an infuriating problem and it renders the travel router a lot less useful if I have to keep taking it out of the network so that people can use the internet.

    Can anyone offer any advice?

Both computers are running Windows XP
The WTR54GS has firmware version V1.0_15

Correction: nytimes.com works from the notebook. It does not work at all from the desktop. Neither site can use Nordstrom's shopping cart.

Sounds like a MTU setting problem. If setting the MTU option to Auto (Setup > Basic Setup page) does not help check out this page. Good luck.

    Sounds like a firewall/filter issue.

Go to the Security=>Firewall screen and disable/uncheck the firewall and filter settings.

If that works, reenable each filter and then the firewall one at a time.

    Similar problem

I have a similar problem with the WTR54GS, the PCs that are connected wirelessly can't send mail through Outlook, and can't access certain sites.
Tried disabling security, changing MTU, port forwarding, etc, but nothing worked.
    Any advice ?
