    ok, try this again!
I have been trying for 10 days to get a new computer working on a wireless network using the WUSB54G; old one, a Win 98 with the hamster still running, works. new xp machine will not. When I open the "monitor" screen, I see that I have connected to the access point but the internet cannot be found. I have tried everything I can think of, short of buying a whole roll of wire with ethernet plugs and tossing the damed WUSB54G over the hill. don't want to drill all those holes, though!!! a friend had it working once, but a trip to the media center screwed it up again. surely there's an easy fix!!!

    need help!!! 8O

Stupid question, but did you run network setup? when it gives you the option for the type of network (all computers connect through this, this is a computer going through a network blah blah) Did you click OTHER and select the top one "this connects through a hud or switch" option?
Is mac filtering enabled on the router? Have you reset the router? What type of network is this? router? access point? etc etc....

you *could* run the linksys software but on the XP machine, i would just remove all the linksys software then plug in the wireless card, when it asks for the driver just point it to the CD and install. use the windows wireless utility, not the linksys one. I've found it to be much more reliable. Of course you cannot do this on a windows 98 machine
