3 WRT54G's with WDS

I was wondering how to setup 3 WRT54G's for WDS. Is it like a triangle where each router can talk to both of the others: 1 <=> 2 <=> 3 <=> 1 or is it a single path: 1 <=> 2 <=> 3.

I'm not sure which way to go as of yet, because I'm not sure how smart the first connection would be. For example if 1 needs to talk to 3 would 1 talk directly to 3 or would 1 talk to 2 and the 2 talk to 3. I'm getting ready to upgrade to Thibor15C as I'm currently using 2.1.b. Haven't changed it because it has been working great, but I think it is time to look at some of the new features.

Any ideas. I just upgraded both of my WRT54G's to Thibor15C. I noticed that there is an option for enabling spanning tree protocol. I was wondering if enabling this would work as it says it helps with multiple paths, but will it pick the best path?

    I would try this:
All "other" MAC addresses in all WRTs, and SPT enabled on all.
Maybe move them around a bit, or turn one off and see if the link(s) stay up, and so on.

Then I would compare speed, etc. with a 1<-->2<-->3 setup.
