I contacted Linksys tech support to try and get the newest firmware 1.05.8beta but instead they sent me version 1.05.4.

Has anyone ever used or heard of this firmware?

One thing to note is there is no indication that it is a beta firmware - on the 1.05.8 it states beta in the file and when you flash the device but for the firmware 1.05.4 it says nothing about beta - maybe this is going to be the next release?

That would be interesting that they would revert back to a early version to release but I guess anything is possible. I have been running 1.05.8 beta for a week now and overall the stability is much better. I have had no issues other then my Tivo not connecting after installing new firmware. I changed wireless security from WPA2 to None and then back to WPA2 and everything works again.

So, have you had any luck with 1.05.4? 1.05.8beta would lock up my gigabit network after a day or two.

I have actually been using version 1.05.8beta and really haven't tested the 1.05.4 firmware. I will install it tonight and let it run for a week and let you know how that works out.

Has anyone else experienced issues with upgrading the firmware then the basically the router getting all confused in terms of how you are plugging things into the back are concerned? For instance my router makes the "1" port the internet port and won't connect. It is really weird. I think I hate this router.

Anyone mind sending me the 1.05.8beta?

Someone else posted this here awhile back...

As I wrote previously, it kept locking up my hardwired gigabit network. I hope you have better luck than I did.

I wouldn't mind trying 1.05.4 if someone makes it available for download. I'm not going to waste my time trying to call Linksys Support for it. Let's just say that communication is difficult at times.
