Hi, I'm a new user to this forum and I've been lurking about, reading up all I can about all of the wireless-N routers since I'm in the market for a new router. Suffice it to say, the more I read, the less I am thrilled about buying one of the "experimental" routers.

Here's my dilema. I know everything is still in draft stage and who knows when the N standard will be finalized for sure. I have one roomate who is constantly playing World of Warcraft and has been complaining about his wireless connection for quite some time. One of my other friends has been raving about the D-Link N router, but I still have my reservations since I've had such horrible experiences with D-Link products in the past. I'm almost to the point where I'm just going to buy the WRT-350N just to shut my roomate up. We currently use a WRT54G, but lately the signal strength has been less than stellar. There are a lot of other wireless networks in the area, but one always seems to have a stronger signal than everyone else.

Do I hold out as long as I can and wait until things have finally settled?? Or do I go buy a new router, knowing that I'll have to go throgh a lot of growing pains just to see if it will improve anything?? I could settle on another G router, but right now I'm not too sure what to do.

    Any advice is appreciated.

You may not need to buy a new router, perhaps a firmware change and a little better antenna. Or just a firmware change and a little higher output power. I would look into what is causing your signal loss, especially since it has not always been that way, could simply need a channel change to clear it up.
