    Ok- so I currently have a WRT54GS v1 loaded with DD-WRT.

I am going to be purchasing a second WRT54GS to bridge with the existing mode in WDS mode (and occasionally in Client mode).

I have a friend who has a used WRT54GS v1 he'd sell to me. I also phoned a local store that has a new WRT54GS v4 sitting on their shelf.

Obviously the v4 has less RAM, but all I care about is the best compatibility with my current unit and best performance. Also- the new unit might last longer because it's new.

That said, the chipset would be the same in both V1's, so they might communicate better. Does the extra RAM in the V1 really make a difference for a DD-WRT WDS scenerio?

So which would you choose and why?

    Thanks in advance!

I have 2 GS v1 units in the house. You'll have to pry them from my cold dead fingers :)

It's nice having the extra RAM, particularly on the main router unit. If you are not running a lot of software then you don't need it.
