    Hello forum!

I've got 2 x AG241's (FW: 1.00.23) doing an IPsec tunnel from office <-> home. Works great, tunnel stays up, fast etc.

However, being a lazy git, I spend most of my mornings in bars in Barcelona sipping coffee, and doing work using the wifi hotspots in the bars.

I now need to find a known working VPN client for Windows, that will let me connect to the office or the house. I've googled, and found next to no info on a known working client.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated!

    Kind regards

Lazy git, eh? Lucky git I would say!

What box are you VPN'ng into at your office end anyway? Taz's recommendation of the GreenBow client probably remains a good can connect to just about any VPN gateway. You might want to google for SSH Sentinel, some have had good luck with it, too.

Give the excellent search feature of this site a workout. You will find that DocLarge and others have put together FAQs etc., on these same subjects. Jon Althoff, for example, has an excellent step-by-step guide for setting up Greenbow.

Of course, if you are connecting to a Linksys WRVxxx, RV0xxx or the like at the headend then it's a no-brainer. You can use QuickVPN, right?

    Go Real Madrid!

    Thanks guys for the reply.

Ok, QuickVPN is a no-go. It mentions something about groups, username, password etc. I can't configure any of that in the AG241, only setup a passphrase to establish the VPN tunnel.

Due to our work subnet being on, I need to get this shifted on to another, as too many of the bars are on this subnet (Either that or I'll shift the bars subnets ;-))

I'll try to make a screen shot of the VPN configuration page, and add it here so you get an idea of the VPN setup.

    WORKS! Yee-Haa

Ok, in the end I got after much searching, SSH Sentinel v1.4 ... seems its old, but it worked first time.

Oh yeah, I tested it over dos caf├ęs con leche ;-)

For anyone actually searching for this client, it can be downloaded from:

    and the READ ME is:

I thus hope this information is of use to others.

BTW, SSH Sentinel appears to be free, but discontinued... But I can vouch it works, and means I dont need to pay the likes of greenbow.

    Regards and thanks to all!

You have to be careful whilst the earlier versions were free the later ones were not. SSH sold off Sentinel to another company who promptly dropped it :sheesh:

Ok, thanks for that information. I'm not to worried if it's free or not, as long as it works, and if they dropped it, I doubt they will mind me using it ;-)
