Do any of the alternate firmwares, HyperWRT, Sveasoft, etc have the ability to map ports. Ie, I want requests on ports 7878 to be mapped to a machine internally on port 80. I have an application that doesn't allow me to change ports and 80 is blocked by my isp.

port forwarding already allows you to do that.

The screenshots of Talisman appear to have that ability.

What you are looking for is
    UPNP Port Forwarding

Like in the old Linksys befsr41. I have good news and bad news. The good news is that the WRT54G and most newer routers have this function. The bad news is most don't have a web page to add these port forwards. You have to set it up through windows and UPNP.

First you have to make sure UPNP compont of windows is installed.
Then you well see an icon for Internet gateway(Router) in your Network connections in the properies there is the location to add the UPNP Port Forwards.
