What's the best antennas you can use for the WRT56G, as in dB strength? I saw one that said 15 dB, but was outrageously expensive.

Is it possible to create an omnidirectional antenna with high gain?

(trying to save as much money as possible)

i bought a pair off of ebay for my wrt54gs. They are 9 dBi omni direction antennas, no-name brand. I think i paid around $30 shipped.

Here is a link to the guy on ebay who i bought them off of.

Make sure you buy the antennas with RP-TNC connectors

    Hope this helps...

its pretty hard to find omnis over 9db or so, probably mostly because it gets real easy to go over the eirp limit with them.
however you can get various directionals up to 24 db or higher. is where we get them for our wisp business.

For someone on a budget, i dont think that site is a feasible option. The antennas are huge and aren't really useable in a home situation. Unless of course, you want to provide wireless access to everyone in your neighborhood.

the point i was really trying to make is that you probably cant legally get an omni antenna to do what you want :)
if its just a few specific areas you are trying to reach, then directionals are a much better bet, even if it means making your own from (very cheap!). i use one of those designs on my wrt at home.
