Any Hope for Fried WRT54G V1.0?

I'm assuming it's a V1 - no version number stamped where my other units have 'em and has 3 LEDs / port....

Anyway, I was dealing with the inevitable wiring insanity in my office. I unplugged some stuff, untangled the mess, and plugged the stuff back in. Well, it turns out I had another adapter that physically fit the WRT but apparently fried it. The smell and the high pitched sound made me muy unhappy.

Is there any suggestion as to what likely may have fried? I'd love to just swap out a cap, resistor, or SOMETHING and see this thing work again.

If anyone has some basic items I can stick a multimeter on, please let me know.

Yeah, it's definitely the router. ;)

Sorry, couldn't resist. Most likely, it's not going to be an easy field replace. Unless you have a lot of time on your hands, $50-75 is an easier replacement method, and buys you a new warranty. ;)

Here's an "autopsy" page that has details on all the WRT54G/GS series. That'll not only tell you what model it is, but also give you some hints on what might be inside.

Man - Nothing more on this?

I'm kinda surprised that this hasn't been touched on before - given that level of hackitude these things have attracted.

Anyone wanna "borrow" mine in the interests of science?
