Is it safe (for the router) to save the bandwidth monitoring logs to a shared folder every hour? Would this in any way stress the router and reduce its lifespan or its performance?

I haven't noticed any adverse affects on mine. I always set the Save Frequency to an hour on all my routers.

You can save to CIFS, but first enable CIFS on the CIFS client page.

I use the webspace given by my ISP to save my history. It gets FTP'ed automatically every 6 hours and/or upon scheduled reboots. Whenever it boots up, it automatically downloads from the FTP site.

I've been using the scripts posted in post #37 in This Thread for over a year now with no problems. Actually, I have history continuously back through May of 2007.

No CIFS or JFFS required. Also, no PC running 24/7.
