I was changing settings on my BEFW11S4 (v. 4) to try WPA security. Due to one adapter whose drivers didn't support WPA, I had to switch back to regular 128-bit WEP. When I switched the other PCs back to WEP, all of a sudden the connections would drop out all the time. Since I had been *absolutely* 100% stable with every client adapter known to mankind before, I went through all the adapter settings and suddenly came across *the* setting that, if checked, will guarantee instability-- the "authentication" choice of "enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network." I've been bitten by this before, but forget it every time; Windows XP always sets this by default, so you have to disable it.
