    Hey guys,

I posted something similar in the WRTXXX pages, but I wanted to put it here too.

Im new to the forum and have a question. I'm getting a PS3 which will be in a different room from my router, and I've been told the signal must be pretty high for online play, so I'm looking for a way to boost my wireless signal.

I have a WRT54G Ver2 router. I have heard that you can "flash" this router with a software program called Thibor 15c or DD-WRT and get quite a signal boost. Would someone mind to walk me through this. As I understand, its not as easy as downloading the software and installing it. I would be very appreciative if someone could help.

download the firmware. extract the binary file (*.bin) then goto the WebGUI interface of your router (usually then goto the administration page. and from there goto the firmware upgrade page. then select to browse where the bibary file is on your PC and upload it.

leave the upgrade alone and once finished you will then have the new firmware installed.

do not upgrade the firmware however over a wireless connection. use a CAT5 cable and one of the LAN ports.

once the upgrade is done you logon to the webgui again and goto the advanced wireless page and there you will see how to increase the power of the wireless signal.

Well... that might boost the router but how will you boost the PS3?

I would also try adding some higher gain antennas preferably a panel mount one that'll make the signal more directional and thus pick up and send more of the signal in the direction you need this alone can be a big help.
