I am pulling my hair out now!!!!Please help!!!!
I have a wrt54gs v 5.1 that i have upgraded to v24 of dd-wrt. I want to use this as a repeater so my father in law next door can get a signal off my router. My main wireless router / modem is the latest BThomehub (The one with the hub phone connected to the front!!)
I have set the wrt54gs up as per the instuctions here
I have set up the repeater mode on the homehub, searched for the wrt54 and found it and enable wds.
Can't get it to repeat from the home hub at all, i have changed ip address, turned off all security and firewall, it just won't do it........

When i connect to the ladys router across the road (I know her passwords cos i set it up for her!!! And i did ask her first) i can use the wrt54gs as a repeater to her setup. This shows the wrt54gs is ok so what am i doing wrong with the home hub......Driving me bonkers!!!

    i have sorted

i had a daft thought, but the daft thought worked. The reapeter worked with the ladys across road and that does not have wds enabled!!!

so on the homehub i turned wds off in the homeup and lo and behold there it was working.

worth leaving on for others for future reference!!!!

Would you like to explain what you did, please? I really didn't understand...
I understood that: the other router (lady's across the street) didn't have WDS enabled. But what you did, I didn't understand.

the bthomehub has a section on it for repeater. when you look in there it has the option to enable wds and search for other networks. Thinking about it afterwards, i suppose this section is if you want to use the bthomehub as a repeater but i am using it as a modem/router with the linksys as a repeater!!

so all i did (as the ladys across road does not have wds) was turn wds off and it worked straight away.

i was getting confused thinking that wds had to be on, on the bthomehub because i was going to be using a repeater with it!!!

One thing might be worth thinking about, if anyone wants a repeater and knows where there is a cheapy homehub, then we now now this will work as a repeater, although i am a big fan of the linksys gear.

Oooke ! I clearly understand this time. Thanks !
In fact, is right IMHO that WDS must not be on in this repeater-case. But good to know as a practical fact, not just in theory.
