Can a WAP54G be a repeater for a Cisco 851W?

    Hi all...!

Mucho frustration here over the past few months... I have a Cisco 851W on one floor of my house and need to provide a repeater for an office on the next floor down. Tried a WRE54G and determined it is an absolute piece of CRAP. Next I purchased a WAP54G. Set it up according to advice posted 'round the net and... no success.

I have the MAC address of the wireless interface of the 851 in the WAP, etc. etc. and no connection between the two.

Was I stupid in thinking this would work in the first place? Any suggestions...?

I've got a similar problem, I picked up a WAP54G for next to nothing at a swap meet, only to find out in the documentation that it can only work in AP-Client or Bridge mode with another WAP54G or a WRT54G.

I'm hoping there is a firmware hack somewhere to 'fix' this..

Are you trying to repeat the wireless signal or bridge a wired connected network onto it? You can run DD-WRT Micro on it and then connect into any network in client mode, but you won't be able to repeat the wireless signal.

same problem here...I want to repeat the signal of a speedtouch wifi router....but that wap54G only supports a repeating function if it has to repeat the signal of another wap54g or an wrt54g..

Is there any firmwarehack for this available?
