    Hi all,

I wondered if you could help me. I have just updated the firmware on my WAG54G and can no longer access the configuration pages for the router. The original firmware was 1.01.6 and I upgraded to 1.02.7

When I try to access the browser just times out. I can ping with no problems and I can access the Intenet ok. I have tried both Firefox and IE

    Any ideas?

You might be looking at "router death," something known throughout the world by those who own (or should I say "owned") the Linksys WRT54G router...

First, see if you can clear everything out by holding down the reset button (while the power is off) then sticking the power connection in "while" still holding the reset button in. Hold the button for "at least" 20 seconds before release. If you don't get anything back, then it's time for the next big step.

The following link I found while trying to "de-brick" my wrt54g showed up (my router passed to the other side, by the way). You'll most likely have to substitue the firmware revisions (WAG54G for WRT54G), but the procedures listed should still work for you. I would have typed this all up, but someone has already saved the effort:,12934924

See if this helps. I will say this; AVOID SHORTING THINGS OUT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE BECAUSE SOMETIMES THIS MAKES THINGS WORSE (my dead wrt54g was a victim of shorting *sniff* *sniff*)

Thanks DocLarge! I tried the reset technique but no joy. Tomorrow I will give the other stuff a go - I'm virtually asleep at the mo. zzzzzzzzzzz

I tried the factory reset again and this time success! Sort of. I can access setup now but wireless seems to be completely dead :( I can access the 'net ok via ethernet.

Hmmmmm... Looks like RMAing it. I will try flashing the firmware back first.

Couldn't find 1.01.6 so tried 1.01.7 - no joy. Thank goodness for the ethernet cable!

Have got wireless working with the desktop and Linksys receiver card but not with my laptop. Strange. Think I will go to bed!

Success! It was an issue with the security key. Fixed now. Thanks for your help DocLarge. Shall I risk flashing to the 2.7 firmware again?
