I put down my Windows ME Security (I use Windows ME yes it's an old comp) but it still doesn't work. What's a proxy cache and where would I find it?

Proxy server settings can be found in your Internet Explorer options: Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings

Have you also checked whether you have a valid IP address to the router?

    Start > Run: WINIPCFG
Select your network adapter from list

Try and too in case its actually one of them thats in use instead, I`ve had this happen before when swapping routers. The numbers can be reconfigured if necessary, to any of these and more besides. they are the usual numbers though.

Go to "Start -> Run ". Type "cmd". Hit enter. Type "ipconfig". Hit enter. The gateway address should be the address of your router. What is your gateway address? If you dont have an ip address or gateway address then theres something different wrong all together.
