I have a BEFSR41 V3 router with the latest firmware, recently I have been unable to login into aim and irc. This is only a problem when I am using my router. When my PC is connected directly to my modem it can connect flawlesly. Any help would be appreciated.

Since both programs work bypassing the router, there is a possibility that the router's built-in firewall is blocking these applications' ports. A good way to verify this is to enable logging on the router. You can do so by going to the log sub tab under the administration tab of the router's setup page. Take note of your computer's ip address then run mirc and aim to see which ports they are trying to access. You'll see them listed under the outgoing logs. To open up those ports, assign static ip on your computer and forward those ports to your ip address. For multiple pc's, you may use port triggering instead. The online knowledge base of linksys, www.linksys/kb can serve as your guide on how to do forwarding and triggering. Hope this helps.
