I was trying to remote connect to my computer from school, but it kept failing. So, I tried just pinging my networks WAN address, to no avail. I went to a web based network solutions site and tried from there, still no-go. My friend was at home and did a few things, and I was able to ping from the web based service, but still not from school.

Is there somthing in the router configuration that rejects all unsolicited requests? It seemed to me like ping was a pretty standard thing, but then again I guess blocking it would protect against DOS attacks or somthing like that. Anyone have any ideas? (I havent contacted the network admin at my school yet to see if for some reason they are blocking that, which might not be a bad idea seeing as you could ping the hell out of someone from an edu connection)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Check your setting for Block Anonymous Internet Requests under security. If it is checked than you cannot ping it and get a response. It is a good idea to have it checked.
