I want to upgrade my 1.1 WRT54G with Alchemy v1.0
And at the end of the upgrade it's written in red that it failed.

    I have the Firmware Version : v4.20.6
    Recently I had Firmware Version: v3.03.6 + HyperWRT 2.1b1
but I wanted to migrate to Alchemy because of WDS.

What could cause the upgrade failure ?

4.20.6 wont allow any firmware upgrade of over 3Mb in size.

try downgrading with a smaller sized firmware first.

Thank you very much Toxic :
    it works now :thumb:

    Just one thing :
I have increased the Xmit Power up to 100 :
at the second floor of my house, the signal is pretty weak…

You still recommand not to boost the signal over 100mW because the signal becomes dirty ?

I had to use also the same trick: I downgraded my oficial 4.20.7 to 2.02.7 and could finally install Alchemy v1 because I want (and need) WDS.

My problem now is that it is not working although it is not a complete brick (I think).

When I sniff the interfaces what I get is Spanning Tree Protocol changes announcement in the LAN side. The WAN side does nothing, not even DHCP requests!!!

I've tried the reseting and de-bricking procedures but no success so far: it after rebooting it starts broadcasting STP again... Also, it is working purely in Layer 2 so I can no connect to it in any way. Any sugestions?

Another tip: My other wireless router (Alcatel SpeedTouch 585) does find it when I look for WDS enabled devices but can't use it anyway...

Thanks in advance for any precious help!
