    Okay, I know channels 12-14 are available in EU, but if this firmware allows you to utilize them is there a way to get your wireless adapters to see them on those channels. If not then why list them? Is it like a look what linksys hides from you type deal or is there something else they can be used for? LoL

    US = 1-11
    EU = 1-13
    JP = 1-14

    the 12-14 will only work with adpators that support those channels where it be built into firmware of the EU/JP drivers

    As the previous poster suggested, you'd have to have an EU/JP adaptor to use those channels (unless you found some hacked adaptor firmware/drivers).

    That doesn't mean the channels are useless, if you are using these devices as a bridge, or even in client/ap mode to one another you can use those other channels. Of course there is good reason those channels are not accessible in the U.S. But in other parts of the world it makes perfect sense...

    I raised the question of Channel 14 here before.

    On my WifiBox setup the US drivers continue to work when I set my UK WRT54G to Channel 12 and 13, but not 14, which we established as normal before since we do not have the Japanese driver.

    I downloaded the Japanese driver for my WPC54G adapter but the setup program is password protection (clever Linksys - there is no zipped file) and while the installation works on my Japanese Windows XP machine, I have yet to crack the password to extract the driver successfully to test it on an English machine :twisted:

    Their WPC54G-JP EXE installers are password protected (I have their latest version anyway), and there is no zipped version I can see available for download. I notice they have zipped versions for WMP54G-JP, so I might give the latest version a try this weekend, but even if it works there isn't much of an incentive to switch to Channel 14 since my English wireless notebooks cannot connect.

    If you had adaptors to use it with, and set up your network using those channels it would be hard for anyone with standard US equipment to connect to your network. Or lets say you are in the US armed forces and got stationed in Germany or some other country, then you could use it over there without having to buy different equipment. I figure it is always better to have more options available that way in case you ever do need to use them, then you can. Just some thoughts.

    it sounds so easy however, linksys most likey has to protect itself and users from being sued if they just allowed anyone to use the 12-14 channels anywhere else other than the contries they are allowed to be used in.
