Connect 2 wired networks using WRT54g + WAP54G?

I have DSL in the house I'm renting, but unfortunately there is only one location for the DSL connection, and it is nowhere near my existing wired network. I am trying to wirelessly connect the DSL connection to the rest of the house, but I can't seem to get things working properly.

    * WRT54Gv2 connected directly to the DSL modem. No other locally-connected devices.
    * WAP54Gv2 connected to a switch which is wired to 3 computers.
    * I also have 1 wireless device near the WAP54G, but not close enough to be wired.

What I would like is the for the isolated network connected to the WAP54G be wirelessly connected to the WRT54G which provides the Internet access. I would also like both WRT & WAP to provide wireless access to any nearby devices.

Does anybody know if this is possible? I've done some investigation into WDS, but both the documentation and implementation appear to be in very early stages. I've tried following this WDS doc at Tom's Hardware, but they don't mention anything about connecting wired devices to the AP acting as the repeater. I'm current using the latest stock Linksys firmware (WRT: 4.00.7, WAP: 2.08), but I'm open to any other firmware options (that's why I bought the Linksys in the first place).

    Any tips/pointers/suggestions would be appreciated.
