Hello all.. I am new here and new with a WRV54G. My goal is to visit clients and using their PC with mostly Windows XP Pro, be able to access a share at my office. I would like not to have to install the Linksys Quick VPN software.. but if I have to I will. Is there any way to use Windows XP at a clients machine to configure a VPN connection to my office.

Truth be told quickvpn is a clever little vpn solution once you get it set up. Regardless of all the pissin' and moanin' you here, once it's fired up, it's solid. Operator knowledge is still a bit of a factor in some cases, mind you :D

If you are going to use the microsoft vpn client, you'll need to make sure you configure an IPSEC policy on that machine and all others you'd like to utilize IPSEC:'configure%20ipsec%20%20windows%20xp'

This is one of the better pdf's I've seen (clean start, no existing information inside) on the net. The WRV54G (by default) already has ports 443 and 500 open. There have been a few folks who've been able to get an IPSEC policy to work. Others, get tired of messing with it and use the builtin client (quickvpn) or other third party vpn clients (greenbow, ssh sentinel).
